When: Friday Nov. 8th through Sunday Nov. 10th

Sunday includes: Workshop, 9am to 5pm, coffee, beverages and lunch included.

In this advanced class we will discuss how to use reflection, imagination and authorial technique to create and deepen our characters’ complexities. A writer who knows his character’s thoughts will be able to reflect those thoughts in gesture and dialogue. Similarly, gesture and dialogue are windows to the character’s soul. We will study the art of creating complexity and depth in characters through the precise communication of the character’s thoughts, feelings, and actions. We will examine the meaning behind gestures, subtle and large, and we will work on developing the craft of character-driven dramatic dialogue. The weekend will be a combination of lecture, writing exercises, and workshop.

Application deadline: September, 1st, 2013
12-15 page workshop piece to be sent after acceptance, due: September 15th, 2013
