The Writing Barn, owned by author Bethany Hegedus, believes in diverse books. We buy them. We teach with them. We invite diverse writers to speak and teach on craft topics that affect all writers and showcase diverse talents as the talents they are.
We would be honored to offer a weekend, 3 day/2 night writing retreat for two at The Writing Barn in Austin, TX to the bookstore that handsells the most copies of The Great Greene Heist during the The Great Greene Heist Challenge. The winning bookstore may gift the writing retreat to a deserving customer/writer/reader. The writing retreat must be used in 2014 or 2015. And as Varian Johnson is an Austin author, a special breakfast will be arranged with the retreaters and the author during their stay. We invite our patrons to participate by posting pics to the #weneeddiversebooks tumblr and twitter feeds. And we invite our patrons to pre-order copies of The Great Green Heist from their local indie bookstore, and/or by supporting thse bookstores. Not only do we need diverse books; WE READ DIVERSE BOOKS!
