What’s Happening in The Austin Book World April 23-April 30

Hello Readers, I hope that you all have had an amazing week. Also, I hope that you have all been reading and engaging in the Austin Book World that we all love and appreciate so much. This week is full of events for everyone: from visiting songwriters, story time, signing and readings, to poetry readings. Get out and support local writers and welcome visiting writers. 18295858Thursday, April 23 at 7p.m. Book Woman is excited to be having their monthly book group that meets every 4th Thursday of the month. This weeks discussion will be over Canadian, New York Times, and Irelands Bestseller, Frog Music by Emma Donoghue. This is a great discussion to join if you are into unsolved mysteries.

Friday, April 24 at 7p.m. Writers Daniel Wolff and Robert A. Ayers aka Bob are going to be at Malvern Books. Daniel Wolff is going to be introducing The Names of Birds, his latest collection of poetry. Robert A. Ayers will be reading from his latest, a chapbook titled Shadow of Wings. Along with these wonderful poets, there is going to be a special performance by singer songwriter Alejandro Escovedo.

Saturday, April 25 at 3p.m. Book People is going to be having a great book club to get the little ones involved with. Rockin’ Readers Book Club is for young readers ages 8-14. This weeks book that will be discussed is Wollstonecraft Detective Agency: The Case of the Missing Moonstone by Jordan Stratford. So, bring the little ones out for a good discussion, it’s never to early or late to get the children involved with the Austin Book World.

issa-2Sunday, April 26 at 4p.m. Cartoonist, artist, and activist, Issa Nyaphaga is going to be at Malvern Books discussing his latest work. Art Stronger Than Hate is a good representation of everything that Nyaphaga believes in and hopes to achieve through art.

Monday, April 27 at 7p.m. Book People is glad to welcome Steph Opitz who will be having a conversation with author Sarah Gerard about her novel Binary Star. This is a wonderful book about the obstacle that an anorexic girl and her alcoholic boyfriend endure while trying to figure out a solution for both of their issues and challenges.

Tuesday, April 28 at 7p.m. Summer Osbourne is going to be visiting and sharing her passion for music and songwriting. Osbourne will be at Book Woman and also performing will be Nancy Scott. Summer Osbourne is an award winning songwriter and performer. It’s difficult to assign a particular genre to Osbourne’s music, but her songs are sure to satisfy all listeners. With her wide variety of songs Osbourne’s music will make you wanna get up and dance.

Wednesday, April 29 at 6p.m. Malvern Books is pleased to be hosting the editors at Revisit Pterodactilo. They are going to be having a wonderful event is celebration of different cultures. Specifically the Latin culture. There is going to be a bilingual poetry reading in appreciation of Latin literature and art.
